Birthday, Coffee and "Hunger Games"

by Kiffe Coco.

This past weekend, we all migrated back home for my sister's birthday. We had a small intimate, homemade dinner to celebrate my sister's 32nd year of life (shhh, let's keep that on the down low). Roasted chicken, my kale specialty, rice, and of course, chocolate mousse cake as the birthday cake!

Of course, the other big plan this weekend was to see the highly anticipated movie, The Hunger Games. My boyfriend and I are such nerds and literally read all the books, so when we heard they would be making a movie based on the book, we flipped out. We pre-ordered tickets for the Sunday morning show (10am, guys) to try and beat the crowds, hopped in the car and made our way to mall country around 9am. It was that serious! To our (believable) disbelief, there was already a line...what?! But we made out pretty well, and still had our choice of seats. Can you believe this film made 68 million dollars on opening night alone?! Well, I guess we totally contributed to that... I'm usually not a teenage book/movie fan, but after reading the books I was happy to jump into this phenomenon along with all the other pre-pubescent kids (though the film was pretty violent, and the themes were pretty adult). All in all, loved it, though of course not as much as the books.

And the other added bonus...Lenny Kravitz in gold eyeliner (*sigh*).

Oh, and to end it all, coffee, good coffee with pretty latte art. Mmmh, how I <3 Sundays...

How was your weekend, guys?? Did anyone manage to catch The Hunger Games?? What did you think??

-Sophia
