No introduction is needed for Lenny Kravitz. This is one of my favorite songs off his album 5. This album was indeed one of his best in my opinion. Check out his ever so cool and relaxed video "I Belong To You" here. Enjoy.
Music: Van Hunt
If you haven't yet heard of Van Hunt, you have now. This funky groove is off his 2004 album Van Hunt. This is one of those rare albums where literally every track is great. He sort of has a funky Prince, Al Green, Marvin Gaye type of sound. I like seeing artists who are doing something different. And, he is definitely one of them. Check out his video here shot on location in Paris! I love it.
Music: Zap Mama
This is one of my FAVORITE groups EVER! I have been a fan of Zap Mama for many years. This Belgian-based group started in 1990. My Afropean sista Marie Daulne, also the frontwoman of Zap Mama, always brings freshness and uniqueness to the stage. Daulne's mission is to bridge the cultures of Africa and Europe through music. But Marie doesn't discriminate. You can hear the sounds of not only Africa, but essences of Indian, Caribbean, American hip-hop and soul sounds permeated through her music. The group is also amazing live. Check out the video here and be transported to a world of sound and culture.
Music: Electrik Red
Welcome back from the weekend! So, when I first heard this song, I said to myself that this joint is indeed "So Good." Electrik Red, whose members are originally from New York and Toronto, have a little more swagger, than say, the Spice Girls. (No lie, I was a fan of the Spice Girls once upon a time a very long time ago). Anyway, check it out and put a little groove into your Monday morning.
