First and foremost, Cablevision/ ABC suck for cutting off their service the day of the Oscars and then putting it back on an hour in. I am glad though that I at least got to see the "good" awards towards the end, starting with Best Supporting Actress (Yay! Congrats Mo'nique) and the red carpet on E! (one of the highlights in my opinion). Can't wait for the Fashion Police! Should be good.
And what did you guys think about Sandra Bullock winning Best Actress for The Blind Side? I have to admit I was disappointed. I have a bit of a sour taste in my mouth when I see a movie about a yet another white woman "saving" a black boy. Or in other words, white people saving poor black souls again. I mean the true actual story is great and I admire any act of graciousness and love. But don't you think that the perpetual image of the "white savior" is a little bit sickening and played out? I know Hollywood just eats that stuff up- but when I see a film such as Precious where the "other" is the savior of herself to me I believe that should be recognized.
I'm just saying.
