I am a huge fan of the book and HBO TV series Game of Thrones. I really never ever thought I'd be into anything involving things like dragons and fictional worlds, but alas, here I am. And I'm pretty die hard, too. So because I am a huge nerd and I revel in anything GoT-related, of course I would go to a traveling [interactive] exhibition for a chance to be in the same room with props and such used on the actual series. But not only were there going to be props, there was going to be the opportunity of a lifetime to partake in one of the biggest battle scenes in the book (digitally speaking of course). To defend the realm with flaming bows and arrows doused in wildfire. Those who are familiar with the term know that it means serious business.
So my friends and I headed out after work overloaded with excitement. But then we saw it. The line of other die hard fans who wanted to defend the realm with wildfire and sit on a replica of the infamous Irone Throne that practically wrapped around the block. And to top it off we were way beyond the cut off point.
Needless to say we didn't get in, no surprise--everyone knows you have to camp out in the AM on a weekday--what was I thinking! But the experience of being surrounded by other fans who are just as invested in the story and characters as much as the next person was worth it. So here's to camping out next week... Must. Defend. Seven. Kingdoms.
Have a great weekend, y'all!
From a nerd at heart,
Sophia
