It was my sister's birthday celebration this past weekend so my mom cooked up an amazing soul food b-day lunch. The most exciting part besides the food was to see my nephew Liam, and back to a food note, to eat blue velvet cupcakes. Yummy!

I feel like I go through weeks without wearing my hair out once (not a good thing)! During the work week most of the time I find myself wearing my hair in a low bun and calling it a day. But this weekend, I decided to switch it up and go back to my roots so to speak. I did a wash and go and it made me realize how much I've missed seeing my hair.
Products used:
1) DevaChan One Conditioner - (used as a leave-in)
2) Ouidad Hydrafusion Intense Curl Cream*
*I used this for the first time on top of the leave-in and I really liked the results. Though this product is supposed to elongate curls it made mine super curly and defined which I loved. I will continue to use this for my wash and gos to see how it holds up.
After products were applied, I blow dried my hair (no diffuser) for about 5 minutes with my hair flipped upside down. I then let it air dry the rest of the way.
The curls are back in action!
Hope you guys had a great weekend!

Sometimes I occasionally look through old pictures of myself (the narcissistic nostalgic person that I am) and think back to the good ol' days (the look how young I was days--totally get that from my mother so I blame her). The youth, the innocence. In any case, I came across this photo taken in Morocco and how, though it looks candid, I intentionally set the shot up of me peeling a clementine gazing out of the window because I just had to have a photo of myself peeling a clementine gazing out of a window (thanks for putting up with that, babe). And though I look relaxed (or maybe delirious) we had just come out of a major citywide blackout and so we had been living off of a bag of airport trail mix nuts and clementines--take that as a test to a relationship. I won't mention the very unpleasant ice cold showers. We awakened at the first sign of daylight by the call to prayer. Amazing now that I look back on it. Today is officially the first day of Spring! To celebrate I took a long walk during my lunch break, though the air was brisk, to enjoy the clear, blue sky (because who knows how long this will last). I came across these buds along my way. Ah, New York in the Springtime...
Happy first day of Spring, everyone!
