March Nails

So, it's been a long time since I've posted on my monthly nail stylo. The truth is it's been a long road to recovery after my crazy gel days. And finally, the broken thumb nail that never seemed to grow out (and that I'd been complaining to myself about for months on end), finally grew out! Believe me, I really miss the variety and durability of gel, but the state my nails were left in after I removed them, coupled with the amount of time it's taken to recover, tells me that I'll be sticking with good ol' regular nail polish from now on. 

Anyway, this month I went with plain ol' polish in "Aperitif" by Essie.

Rain

I decided to write a small post dedicated to rain and weather.

For those of us living in NYC we all can say that this weather has been none other than strange. Snowing one day, 50 degrees and sunny the next. Now we have rain (and not to mention daylight savings which completely confused my internal clock). I know, boo hoo, but on a positive note, it is nice to have a few extra hours of sunlight, or in terms of today, another hour or two of dreary grey.

Man, weather affects my mood. Have you ever thought about moving to a new location based on its weather? I have (i.e. California). Practical, no. But, there's always next year.

Artfully Wednesday: El Anatsui

We all need to look at something beautiful every once in a while--a budding flower, a beautiful blue sky (or even a dramatic grey sky), art. This past weekend my friend and I went to the Brooklyn Museum to check out an exhibition by Ghanian artist El Anatsui.

Grace and Gravity showcases Anatsui's monumental installations made from found [metal] items, such as bottle caps and can tops, which from afar coalesce into a luxurious tapestry of metal, light and texture.

Birthday Cake

I went a little exotic for my b-day cake and got a lavender, lemon and fresh raspberry cake from Nine Cakes in Brooklyn. Wow is it tasty! The lavender buttercream is dreamy and the lemon cake with fresh raspberry filling is di-vine. I am still working on leftovers (and probably packing on a few extra pounds while I am at it). Whatever, it's post b-day week! I'll work out tomorrow.
