My New Favorite Little Book for Fashion Inspiration
As the weather gets colder and colder and it becomes increasingly hard to look "cute," sometimes you need a little extra incentive to try and look fashionable. The other day in New York, it was 19 degrees, and I was wrapped up from head to toe--looking like the Abominable Snowman. If this weather keeps up, I might have to break and get myself a ski mask. Bottom line: cold weather means fashion is out the window.
BUT when I finger through the pages of The Sartorialist, a very a la mode agglomeration of international street style by photographer and blogger Scott Schumann, it makes me want to say good-bye to my big, frumpy puffer and say hello to something more, let's say, fashionable.
My (and Blue's) new favorite little black book for fashion inspiration. Check out The Sartorialist blog here as well for your daily fashion fix.
Starting from the bottom up.

Operation Get Organized!
For those of you who don't know--I live in a studio apartment in Brooklyn. In fact, my boyfriend, cat and I share a 500 square foot apartment. We've been living here for about 2 years. Granted I am grateful for having any apartment that I can afford in Brooklyn, but it's getting a little difficult space-wise. In order for us not to perish under the mountains of paper and other miscellaneous crap we have, we have to think about ways in which we can maximize our small space.
THE PAPER
I can't tell you how much PAPER I have--mail (important and junk), documents, catalogs, receipts, etc... As of now our only official eating space (the breakfast bar) is our unofficial office space. It is also the living space for our laptops and other electronics. Stacks of papers are finding homes on our stools. It's not a pretty sight...
STORAGE SPACE...WHAT STORAGE SPACE?
Not enough storage space. The thought of buying one of those ugly metal filing cabinets makes me cringe. I would like a piece of furniture to store all my papers but I don't want it to scream "Hey, I'm a filing cabinet!".
MORE "REAR END" SPACE
When we have guests come over two unlucky people have to either sit on uncomfortable stools (of course only when the pile of paper has been removed) or on a floor pillow--which after a long period of time you might need to call someone to help you up from. Our couch fits about three people tightly but still for conversational purposes, it's not ideal to have a bunch of people seated in a row.
The ultimate goal, besides creating a super duper awesome, practical apartment, is not to get too overwhelmed. Since I am an HGTV fanatic I have all these ideas of how to make our studio space awesome, but with that said, it can get a little overwhelming. Plus we're on a budget so no, I can't get the $2,000 couch (which I don't know why I 'm looking at since it's totally not part of the reorganization shebang). In any case, we're going to start this project corner by corner so we don't end up with reorganization meltdown and thus, give up.
I'll keep you guys posted! More pics to come!
How do you keep your abodes organized?

2.0.1.3.
The concept of time is an interesting one. We are always in movement towards something--another moment, another day, another year-- even when we are still.
So much has happened in 2012 I don't even know where to begin. The highlights of 2012 for me have been the birth of my nephew, Liam, getting my cat, Blue, and the reelection of President Obama (4 more years!). Of course, great happenings always comes with some less joyful, even tragic ones, both always playing a constant balancing act with each other. But at the very core of it all, it can only make us more appreciative for the things we have.
So what will 2013 bring? The start of a New Year is always particularly exciting because you start off with a clean slate, both "calendrically" and metaphorically. Cliches being cliches--I really look forward to making resolutions this one time out of the year (and why not give yourself a good excuse to accomplish something big or small).
Here are a few of my big + small resolutions (in no particular order) for 2.0.1.3.:
1) GYM
2) Finish Game of Thrones
3) Don't worry, be happy
4) Enjoy life, family, friends and kitty
5) Plan for that M.A.!
Wishing you all a positive and successful start to the New Year!
PS And since I am the obsessed auntie, here's a picture of my nephew! My biggest joy of 2012!
What are some of your 2013 resolutions?!
