September Nails!

After weeks of schedule conflicts and not being able to get an appointment at my beloved nail salon (!), coupled with the fact that my sister--my nail partner in crime--would be giving birth in about a month, I decided to take this all as a sign to give the gel a rest. Last month's set was literally on it's last leg, so I removed them (the right way) and opted for a polish manicure.

Without further ado I present to you my first non-gel manicure!  I chose "Sand Tropez" by Essie since the color reminded me of a soft cashmere sweater...

Some [Monday] Sweetness

Whenever my family has a birthday or holiday get-together, we always have two types of dessert. One is almost always inevitably chocolate cake and two is a variety of fruit tarts for the non-cake eaters. Why? Well, aside from the fact that we all love and adore food (and no the fruit tarts are not there as the healthier option), we have two different palettes to satisfy. It's hard to believe that in France for example (the land where my father comes from), it's actually rare to have "birthday" type cakes for dessert (i.e. any type of spongy cake with frosting). Instead fruit tarts and fruit pies/cakes (with no frosting) are the big thing so we've always had the addition of fruit tarts.

But since we have to please both the French and American taste buds, we threw in a big ol' chocolate cake so there's no hard feelings.

Now, I just made myself hungry for chocolate cake and fruit tart...

Fall Twist Out

I went back to my old twist out routine for a change, and I absolutely LOVED the results. I forget how well using regular conditioner as a leave-in works! I've been using cream moisturizers for the past several months after my hair dresser recommended against using regular condish as my leave-in (not because of ingredients, but because your hair tends to take longer to dry using leave-in conditioners, and the longer your hair is damp, the more prone it is to damage, yada yada yada). But good or bad, nothing gets my hair more defined than a good slippery conditioner! I'm putting my conditioner leave-in back in my rotation!
