Yes, Issa Bagayogo! One of my all time favorite Malian musicians - he sprinkles his sounds with an electronica beat - it is definitely a fusion of sound. This song is from his 2002 album Timbuktu which is amazing by the way. Check out Issa Bagayogo with "Dambalou."
Song of the Day: Robin Thicke
In a Robin Thicke mood today after I saw him and lovely wife, Paula Patton, grace the red carpet yesterday. They are such a cute couple! Anyway, I put Thicke's first single up from his first album A Beautiful World. Check out Robin cruising around the city with his long flowing hair in "When I Get You Alone."
Song of the Day: Blue Nefertiti
I saw Celia (from Les Nubians) perform "Paris at Night" at a Catherine Malandrino party (actually some of the video is filmed in the designer's store downtown). I loving her sound. She said her music is influenced by greats such as Edith Piaf and old French cabaret. But she definitely adds sprinkles of urban Parisian rhythm. Check out "Paris at Night" by way of New York.

Song of the Day: MC Solaar
France- I first saw this video in the kitchen of my grandmother's house on her little box t.v. (M6). As I sat (and grooved out) I was captivated by the hypnotic arabesuqe beat and sound. MC Solaar it was- one of the most popular and influential French rappers out there. This one definitely brings me back to that morning in my grandmother's kitchen...Check out MC Solaar with "Inch'Allah."
