When I first heard this woman sing, I thought what a beautiful voice (it kind of reminds me of Sarah Vaughan). Somi, who is of Rwandan and Ugandan descent, describes her music as "holistic New African Jazz." And let me tell you, her voice definitely is holistic as it soothes and calms the soul. Take a listen to her beautiful single "Ingele" of her 2007 album Red Soil in My Eyes.
Music: Jamiroquai
Starting this Tuesday morning off with some Jamiroquai. Bringing it back with "Virtual Insanity" (along with the sliding floor). Check it out!
Music: J*Davey
This L.A. group with vocalist Briana Cartwright and behind the scenes producer Brook D'Leau present their funky swag to our ears through their electric sound. Check out J*Davey with their video "Mr. Mister."
Music: Tina Turner
I had to put this one up. There was once a time when I was about 7 or 8 years old and I was completely obsessed with none other than Ms. Tina Turner. I probably watched What's Love Got To Do With It about one million times- memorizing the entire script practically and the moves to "Proud Mary." I even had a little shimmy dress. Anyway, this song brings me back to those days...rolling on the river. Enjoy while shimming your day away at work!
