Liam's Baptism + Fashion Both Old & New

My cutie-pie nephew Liam was officially introduced to the Holy Spirit. And to my relief he didn't scream or cry when the deacon poured water on his head. He was pretty relaxed about the whole thing, as Liam so often is. My grandmother came in from France just to see this very moment of her great-grandson being baptized, so it was a particularly special moment for all of us. And what was even more amazing was that my nephew wore the same baptism robe that my great-grandfather wore on his baptism day. Liam's great-great grandfather.  Liam was clothed from head to toe in a whole lot of family history. He was an angelic sight to behold :-)

On a more prosaic fashion note: Beforehand, I was banging my head against the wall trying to think of what to wear. Since I waited until the last second to get it together, finding something online was pretty much crossed off the list. So, I decided to check out one of the neighborhood boutiques, and to my delight and relief, I fell in love with a dress right away. It was bright, fun and totally 60s... but it was a size too small, argh! (I won't associate this with my having not gone to the gym in ages and being pretty much on a pasta diet... I wasn't too big for the dress, the dress just wasn't cut out for ME!). In any case, the owner of the shop was so kind as to make a few calls for me (I felt ultra-celeb), and she found my size at one of their other stores. Thank god, because that dress's zipper was literally going no where.

When my size finally did come in the next day, it fit like a glove but in a good way.  Without further ado, here's the look I rocked for the baptism:

Dress: Meg
Shoes: Chinese Laundry

Hair: Twist-out, pinned to one side. Check my twist-out technique here. (Note: Skipped the oil and used TRESemme Naturals as my leave-in).

Top Picks for Liam

by Sophia B.

Zara | Kids

One, why are some baby clothes so darn expensive! Two, how cute are these?! I'm already starting to shop for my little nephew, Liam, who is due to arrive this November. Since, I'm a frequent online shopper at Zara, I thought why not pass the style legacy down to my nephew. Boy, do they have some sharp clothes for the kiddies! It's a little on the pricey end, considering it takes, like, two days for kids grow out of things, but their stuff is so cute! What the hell, I know I am going to spoil this kid! The beginning of the end starts now.

What are some of your go-to children's stores? Got to hit those up, crazy Auntie style!

 P.S. H&M kids. I think yes!
