Located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Kingston Lounge was a hot spot back in the day. It attracted the likes of Duke Ellington and Lena Horne and high-rolling number runners and gangsters. It's hard to believe from the looks of it now. This place hadn't been opened up for decades. My friend acquired the key for a project she is working on. The door was padlocked and the smell was old and moldy. The ceilings were fringed with peeling paint; planks of plywood, cracked mirrors and glass, and even old abandoned construction helmets and gear littered the ground.
Eerie, but incredible at the same time. It was like opening a tomb of wonder (as cheesy as it sounds). I felt curiosity and excitement, mixed with a little reservation, as my feet gently tipped-toed around the premises...not sure if I would fall right through the floor or not. I'm having a sneezing attack as I write this....oh no...asbestos!!!
