There have been quite a few changes to the design here lately. Case and point, a new logo! As you all have probably noticed, I love experimenting with blog design. It really speaks to all my anal tendencies. I always look to design that is minimalistic while still maintaining a functional balance (oh, and somehow incorporating large images!). Oh, how I love lavender everythang! Most of you know I gave up the gel some time ago, and even though I miss the outright perfect and shiny look of gel, my nails are doing so much better without it. This isn't the best nail job :-/, but I just loved the color. I am slowly trying to learn to paint my nails myself without having looked like a five-year-old did it, and without having to use massive amounts of nail polish remover and q-tips.

Yes, this past weekend was a hot one. And I thought why not break out the mini skirt for old times sake. Let me just preface this by saying it's extremely hard for me to wear anything above the knee. I'm not sure why. Maybe I can attribute that feeling to the 10 years of Catholic school that has instilled such modesty in me... But frankly, I just don't like to wear anything that draws too much attention to myself, nor do I enjoy the attention that it brings when we women try to be confident (as well as comfortable) in warm weather.
But screw it, it's hot, and damn it I want to show some skin. Now, I don't think I'll ever be so bold as to go for the full enchilada and rock the cropped tube top and short shorts, because I am a true believer in showing one area of my body at a time, but I'm trying! And for the ladies who rock it with confidence, I envy you!
But for now, I'm leaving my old lady habits at the doorstep and taking baby steps.

This past weekend, my boyfriend and I celebrated our 6th year anniversary (I know, we're getting up there!) by visiting Storm King Art Center in New Windsor, New York. Even though the weather was gloomy, it added to the experience. Storm King Art Center is located on 500 acres of land, with massive sculpture installations sprinkled throughout. It was impossible to see every installation, but the ones we did see were breathtaking. It wasn't unusual to see large metal objects in the middle of the woods, which may sound out of place, but somehow these massive contemporary structures seemed to live just as naturally as the trees around them.
My favorite had to have been the "Three-Legged Buddha" by artist Zhang Huan (pic #3, above; left, video). The rain added such a beautiful element to the sculpture, as it made it look like the sculpture's face was strewn with tears.
