Weekend Hair!
Even though we are beginning to get used to the daily grind once again, I still yearn for the freedom of the weekend- It's those carefree, lazy days and not to mention the beautiful weather that is up ahead. I like to let my hair let loose on the weekend since during the week it's usually put back. So, I decided to post some pictures from this past weekend as I anxiously await this weekend and the chance to let my hair loose again.
This is a braid out that I kept for about a week. I just applied coconut oil and did a variety of braided styles throughout the week (heidi braids, two pigtail, big braids, etc...). I'm also realizing that as my hair gets longer the curl from the braid/ twist outs are holding up much better. When it was shorter, setting my hair and wearing out was a no go. My hair would usually end end up looking very piecey and flat. Anyway, I really liked how it came out and I think switching up the hairstyles and combing my hair out in between with the Denman brush helped as well. I know some people do not like to manipulate their hair too much but for some reason it made such a difference in how my hair turned out. I guess there is truth in the phrase "every head is different."

The Side Ponytail
This past weekend I decided to slick my hair into a side ponytail for the first time in what seemed like a long time. I just applied a bit of Aubrey Organics B5 Gel and that was about it. I really like this simple and clean look!
***If you want to add a bit more glamor, try adding in a flower to jazz it up a bit. Flowers give such a feminine and exotic touch to any look. Perfect anytime of year in my opinion!!

Adieu, Adieu Henna
Dear Henna,
It's not you...it's me. It seems that I love you but I'm not in love with you.
I think we should take a break...I'm sorry.
Oh my god, I just broke up with Henna. Even though I have really liked the results (the conditioning benefits, etc...), it was making my hair too red after consistently using it each month. No surprise I know :-) So, this past month I experimented with mixing indigo with henna which got me back to my natural color (with no red tint!). However, my hair was like the Sahara desert for a few days. I'm really just trying to abide to simplicity (and I'm getting lazy, no lie). I am going to continue to be adamant about my weekly deep conditioning treatments, just minus the henna. We'll see how it goes!
So for now --
Sayonara to Henna.
