Twisty Knots + Results

by Kiffe Coco. in ,

I decided to do another set that would yield similar results to my failed Flexi Rod attempt. I basically made several sections (6 per side), twisted my hair as if I were going to do a bantu knot and tied my hair into a knot so it would hold. I used Coconut Oil to take down the next morning. I really like the results. It gave me a really bouncy curl.

My Must Have Products!

by Kiffe Coco. in ,

Here is a list of my must have products that I use in my hair:

Shampoo: Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat. This clarifying shampoo really makes your hair feel clean and refreshed. I use this about every 2-3 weeks when I wash my hair.

Conditioner: Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner; DevaCurl One Conditioner. I use these puppies to co-wash in between my shampooing. I usually co-wash 1-2 times a week mostly with the Suave because it's a cheapie. The DevaCurl is kind of pricey, so I try to conserve that one a little more.

Deep Conditioner: Aubrey Organic's GPB Conditioner; Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask (alternate with GPB); and last but certainly not least, Henna! I use the GPB every other week because it is protein-base, which tends to dry out hair, if used too often. I alternate with the Neutrogena Hair Mask. I usually do my deep conditioning treatments every Sunday. Lastly, Henna is known for its wonderful conditioning properties, yielding hair that's shiny and thick. I've done Amla treatments in the past with great results, but I love Henna. I Henna usually once a month because it's such a long process, but it is worth every hour. I will definitely put up pics from my next treatment, due in another week. Keep an eye out!

Hair Moisturizer: Unrefined Coconut Oil. I use this as a moisturizing agent. I apply this to try dry hair because I feel it absorbs better. I usually co-wash, braid or twist my hair using DevaCurl Set It Free, or no product. I apply the Coconut Oil the next day when my hair is fully dry.

Stylers: DevaCurl Set It Free; clear Eco Styler Gel. I usually set my protective styles (braids or twists) with DevaCurl Set It Free. The Eco Styler is great when you want a more a sleek look and you need extra hold. The positive is that it has no alcohol so it does not make your hair crispy.

Flexi Rod Results

by Kiffe Coco. in ,

Hmmm... I'm not too thrilled about how this came out. The bottom portion of the hair has a pretty nice curl, but my edges and roots are a frizzy mess. I had to put it back. I might have to try a different technique. Anyway, here a couple of pictures. I spared you from the worst. This fresh from when I took my hair down from the flexi rods.

Flexi Rollin' It

by Kiffe Coco. in ,

I was inspired by none other than Curly Nikki and HeatherNicole to try out the Curly Fro.

I detangled my dry hair with a couple of spritzes of water, and a wide tooth comb. I then did about seven sections, applying DevaCare Set It Free to each section. I applied a touch of Shea Butter onto the ends. I then put the flexi rods to work.

We'll see how it comes out tomorrow morning!

Bonsoir lovelies!
